    Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

    The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and we are committed to making a difference in the lives of the members we serve and the populations that are directly impacted by our members’ work. Our members are responsible for the career development of college students on their campuses and the hiring of the next generation of the workforce. It is critically important to the future of the profession that our members understand and engage DEI practices effectively; and we are dedicated to championing these issues. Reporting to and working closely with NACE’s Executive Director/CEO, you will serve as a hands-on leader, facilitator, change agent and resource for developing and implementing our strategies and commitments related to DEI and breaking down systemic racism. This is an exciting opportunity to address these challenges and contribute to real world outcomes. While NACE’s headquarters are in Bethlehem, PA, the selected candidate may work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.

    What Makes this Job so Unique?

    As the Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the success of NACE, its members and the community as a whole through the following core job responsibilities:

    • Facilitate, contribute towards and execute NACE’s DEI strategies and anti-racism commitments; working with NACE staff and volunteers to achieve our collective goals.
    • Provide counsel on the execution of our strategies and ensure that our intent is being appropriately communicated. This may include reviewing and contributing to member communications, newsletters, programming content, research questions and reports, volunteer engagement strategies, member diversification and other association deliverables.
    • Form strong partnerships with other organizations that align with NACE’s DEI strategies and facilitate deliverables based upon shared goals.
    • Serve as primary advisor for and work with NACE’s volunteer DEI committee and 17 affinity groups to hear and act on their voices and facilitate achieving meaningful outcomes for them and the association.
    • Develop and support new initiatives, events and programs that explore DEI topics and/or require a DEI point of view.
    • Review, make recommendations about, and implement changes to policies, practices and processes to achieve our DEI goals and commitments.
    • Provide subject matter expertise to the association membership at-large, media and general public by contributing as a: speaker, panelist, moderator, blogger, and writer.
    • Serve as an instructor for programs and institutes; and coach and mentor to staff and volunteers on topics related to your expertise.
    • Make recommendations for, participate in and facilitate DEI-related professional development for staff and volunteers.

    Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing DEI initiatives.
    • Previous experience working in and/or understanding of the talent acquisition and/or career development professions (preferably both but not required).
    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with formal education/training/studies, and practice in or related to DEI.
    • Strong relationship building skills through collaboration using inclusive and equitable approaches.
    • Understanding of and experience with a variety of change management concepts and their practical application.
    • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts through written work as well as through presentations with diverse audiences in small and large group settings.
    • Strong organizational skills, including: setting priorities, planning and implementation, structuring project deliverables and creative problem-solving.
